Musical Interludes
Musical Interludes has been providing piano lessons for the last 24 years.
Opening in 1996, the studio offered piano and music theory classes in the Eastern suburbs. We then moved into Essendon in 2005 and added Mini Maestros Preschool Music classes to the syllabus. Now our beautiful Studio is located in Niddrie on Keilor Road and we offer Mini Maestros classes Tuesday – Saturday and Piano Lessons Monday – Saturday.
We integrate all elements of music into our lessons to create a well-rounded musician. Students learn to read, write and play music. They also learn aural recognition and healthy piano technique. We believe in a repertoire rich approach to music, exposing students to a wide variety of styles
About
Taryn
Taryn underwent traditional training in both Piano and Voice, commencing music lessons at age 4. Passionate about teaching she has now been teaching piano for 24 years and Early Childhood Music for 21 years. She completed a Bachelor of Music (Therapy Stream) at Melbourne University and has completed AMEB exams in both Singing and Piano.
I believe music is to be played and enjoyed. I aim to instill a love of music and music making in my students so they remain musicians for life whether it be for their own personal pleasure or for that of an audience.
Taryn values professional development and is always learning and keen to adapt to ensure a relevant and motivating environment for her students. She is currently studying for further pedagogical qualifications under her mentor Brenda Hunting’s guidance. She also continues her own piano technical studies under Brenda with a focus on Taubman Approach and studies repertoire and performance with Sam Colcheedas.
Fees
Please note all enrolments are based on Victorian State School terms. Casual lessons are not available.
Studio Registration Fee: $25
This fee is payable once a year and covers printed materials and Studio Licensed music. It is required in addition to the lesson fees and is designed to give you the best range of learning materials at the smallest price.
Lesson Books and Repertoire are purchased as required. The number of books purchased differs for each student, faster learners will require more repertoire for example. At an average estimate Books can cost from $50 – $100 during the year.

Policies
Please note that when enrolling at Musical Interludes you are committed to a full term. Your enrolment reserves your time-slot for the duration of the term and gives you first option for the same lesson time the following term. Changes in the timetable are sometimes possible each new term but due to a full schedule cannot be guaranteed. Places cannot be held for partial term enrolment.
Cancellations: There are no refunds for classes cancelled after the start of term. A refund will be offered if cancelling prior to the terms commencement less a $40 admininistration fee.
Missed Lessons: Please provide a minimum of 24 hours notice if cancelling a lesson. A make-up lesson MAY be offered if lesson times become available but is not guaranteed due to a full teaching schedule. No refunds or discounts are offered for holidays during the school term and no make-ups are offered if less than 24 hours notice is given. School camps are able to be accomodated if discussed prior to the commencement of the term.
All classes cancelled by myself with be rescheduled or if a mutually suitable time can’t be found a credit/refund will be offered.
